In 2023 HBO Max added The Hobbit trilogy, along with Lord of Rings trilogy to its lineup. I kept trying to figure out why i liked The Hobbit so much. Especially the first movie, An Unexpected Journey. It was about at the 80 viewing, yeah i said 80th viewing that i finally figured out why i couldn't stop watching this movie. It hit me finally one night when the dwarves show up at Bilbo s house for supper. Fili looks like my younger brother Stevie, and both Fili and Kili have my brothers personality. Then comes the supper scene, the yelling, throwing food, complete chaos, and finally it dawned on me...this was my family supper table every night growing up with a large family with eight children . I have now watched The Hobbit every night since Hbo premiered it. Over 360 viewings , maybe even 400 by now. If the director Peter Jackson ever reads this, or the actors who played the dwarves, I just want to say thank you for allowing me to sit with my crazy siblings every night and eat supper with them again. In case you're wondering, I would be Bombour the dwarf who never stops eating, who always was cleaning up everyones plate. Thank you cast of The Hobbit.

A great series and great acting , the standard of English used among the gentry is charming to listen too and alas not in common practice anymore and indeed the lesser standard used by the commoners who worked for them is hysterical and together make the series very different from most period dramas, the language difference between the educated and non educated was the real class divider in those days apart from money.
